It's interesting to see how many enjoy a capped versus an uncapped FPS experience. Are there any drawbacks to sticking with uncapped performance consistently? What style of play do you favor?

I noticed fewer delays with the uncapped setting, though I still keep it disabled since I don’t perceive any lag.

It varies by screen type. If it runs at 60Hz, you shouldn’t limit it since higher refresh rates still reduce input lag. However, for gaming at 120Hz or 144Hz, limiting it is advisable because these settings work best with G-Sync and FreeSync, and the difference in visual smoothness won’t be noticeable at those frequencies.

I typically keep it open most of the time. The resolution is 3440x1440, making 144Hz a realistic target. Only when I hit over 144fps have I experienced problems.

depends on several elements – optimization of the game, stable FPS if it's a high frame rate title – a sudden FPS drop can make it feel sluggish. Using VSync or G-Sync helps keep GPU resources free for unexpected changes.

Absolutely, I completely agree. There’s no noticeable delay in response.

It varies by game. I’m okay limiting the frame rate on slower titles since any extra input delay isn’t too much, even if it means a bit less smoothness. But when I compete, I prefer to stay uncapped to minimize latency.

Playing with an uncapped FPS often puts extra strain on your GPU over time. With your Red Devil Radeon and strong setup, you can enjoy smooth performance but keep an eye on heat and stability.

It could increase wear but won’t exceed what your GPU can manage. I don’t mind. Still, there’s no point in aiming for unlimited FPS when your frame rate stays below your monitor’s refresh rate.

It would have been better to choose a smaller graphics card, but I usually maintain higher frame rates at full resolutions. Better to make the most of what it offers...
