The severe Kernel 41 problem?
The severe Kernel 41 problem?
Recently assembled a semi new PC with updated components. Here are the details:
- ASRock PG Lighting followed by Asus TUF B650 Mobo
- AM5 7900 CPU
- Corsair DDR5 5200mhz 16GB x 2
- GTX 3070
- 750W PSU
I’m experiencing occasional random crashes, happening roughly every two days. When the system restarts, the error message displayed is "Kernel 41." I’ve tried various debugging methods and testing, but nothing seems to resolve the issue.
I replaced the motherboard and PSU (1000W), yet the problem persists. Disabling XMP and running RAM at 4800mh didn’t help. Updating all drivers via utility programs hasn’t fixed it either. I’ve tested each RAM stick individually, but no improvement.
BIOS is up to date. I’m facing a significant financial loss (around £1100). If this doesn’t get resolved, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
event 41 (63) results from a report generated when Windows starts unexpectedly. It appears when Windows detects an unanticipated restart, though you didn’t encounter any BSOD. You didn’t notice any unusual behavior.
This issue isn’t limited to the power supply unit; it could stem from other components.
Random restarts aren’t typical during gameplay either.
Reliability logs might display hardware errors if Windows interprets these unexpected restarts as faults. Other possible causes remain unclear.
Consider testing with a new motherboard and PSU.
You might try Prime95 to check for deeper problems (it can run continuously, so running it overnight could help).

Hi Colif, thanks for your response.
It just occurs unexpectedly... which is annoying!
The audio stutters a lot when it's about to happen. Do you think Realtek Audio drives might be the issue?
I'm sure it's related to the drivers rather than the hardware itself.
Hi there. I've faced the same problem you did. My PC restarts without any warning or error messages except for the Kernel in Event Viewer. It usually reboots every other day. I've checked all power connections in my build, focusing on the 12 pin to the motherboard, as well as the two 6-pin connectors on the CPU and GPU. I also tested the PSU. I did this yesterday, but so far I haven't seen any reboots. Please check your cables—remove them and reinsert, and listen carefully for the click sound. Hope this helps.
Hey thanks for the reply, It's had a second power supply so that's already been ruled out, I've now changed the GPU to a 1070ti and extact same issue occurs.
I really wish you could come up with a fix for this. I'm waiting here, hoping it doesn't require another restart of myself.
Are you not employing a tool for updating drivers? Have you performed a complete Windows reinstall alongside both motherboards?
Yeah, it gets even worse now, usually every ten minutes or so I restart.
