Here is how to remove the standoff. It’s a different style but should require the same tightening. Updated on November 6, 2025 by leclod

When you understand your work, you don’t require plumbing equipment for even the tiniest fasteners in regular sizes.

I believe I'll keep using a floppy NVMe and use extractors or take it to a repair shop if issues arise.

Confirmed, avoiding the pipe wrench suggestion. Also, did you realize the vise-grip plier I shared is available in a 4-inch version? That’s quite handy!

The person who posted seemed really focused on the board. It’s unclear if saying every standoff can be taken out should be confirmed with more shots of their specific board.

You need tools to secure the base so movement doesn’t reach the board and another set to loosen the head. It’s not simple. I faced the same issue with my own setup, and when I assembled the PC it stayed tight. Years later, I managed it by using a very snug Torx screwdriver. However, in your situation that won’t help because the screw is damaged. You’ll need pliers.

I possess just one, and I would never place it close to anything delicate.

It seems off and doesn’t match. Here’s a revised version:

I think this looks messed up—never noticed a rivet on a mobile phone before. It wouldn’t handle the pressure. Edited November 6, 2025 by leclod
