Dear PC specialists, I’m experiencing a persistent crash that’s really affecting me. When I begin a game—like The Finals—the system usually launches smoothly, loads the map, lets me play for a while, and then suddenly it freezes with a black screen and a loud fan noise. Discord continues to play, and my friends think the computer has stopped working, so I have to press the power button to restart. After rebooting, there are no error messages.

I can cause this issue in just seconds by opening the Rouge Mech Demo after launching the game. The black screen and fan speed combination happens quickly. Last year, the black screen occurred occasionally—about once every 1 to 2 weeks—especially after a recent update to The Finals (the exact version isn’t clear). It tends to happen every 2 to 30 minutes during gameplay, sometimes even in the menu, which displays animated characters. However, at times the game runs perfectly for hours.

Current hardware:
- Motherboard: MS-7A38 B450M Pro VDH Plus
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight Core 3200 MHz
- Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070
- RAM: 2x8GB at 2133 MHz
- Operating System: Windows 11

What I’ve tried so far:
I visited Micro-Star on January 4, 2026, and downloaded the latest drivers, BIOS, and chipset. I flashed the BIOS and updated the chipset. Then I updated the motherboard drivers, but couldn’t install the Raid drivers since there’s no executable in the files I received. (Should I do that? Do I have any RAID setup?)

I also ran the 3dguru DDU v18.1.4.0 tool in protected mode and cleaned the previous 3D drivers. I downloaded the newest Nvidia drivers for the RTX 2070 and installed them. After playing a round of The Finals, it worked without problems for about an hour, then crashed again after just one minute. I went to sleep and tried playing today. There were many crashes, so I’m guessing the problem might be related to the drivers.

I’m hoping someone can help me resolve this. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Hardware details:
Motherboard MS-7A38 B450M Pro VDH Plus
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight Core 3200 MHz
Graphics Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070
2x8GB RAM at 2133 MHz
Windows 11
Please share your PSU model, case type, and cooling setup. Do you have a link to the RAM kit?
A quick note: for your Ryzen and system, a low-latency dual-channel DDR4-3200MHz or DDR4-3200MT/s configuration works best.
In January 2026, I installed the newest drivers, BIOS updates, and chipset firmware. The BIOS version is 7A38v9F5 (beta).
On AM4 platforms, it was recommended to update chipset drivers before flashing the BIOS.
I couldn’t find any RAID driver in the files I downloaded—do you need one? Do you have a RAID setup?

The PSU is the BeQuiet L11-600W and the fan is also a quiet model, but I couldn't determine the exact brand. The BIOS I'm using is 7A38v9F5. The RAM consists of two 4GB DDR4 modules, with one running at 2800 MHz and the other at 2933 MHz, as per my current BIOS, which are set to 2133 MHz. I don't have any RAID arrays installed. The case model is unknown. It was assembled by its previous owner, not a friend or relative. He sold it because his girlfriend was pregnant (maybe this is true, I saw her).
