So spec wise, I have a 5900x, 32gb of RAM, a 3080 (10gb) and both my OS and game are on NVME drives. No matter if it's a demanding game or something as simple as minecraft/Roblox, i can not stream it at all. At the moment I'm playing Euro truck sim 2, well over 120 FPS in 4k. If i try to stream it in 4k, 1440 or even 1080 it drops to 1FPS and i have to ask people to stop watching to be able to move my mouse. CPU and everything else looks fine, only thing is the Encoding jumps. I feel like it should be able to atleast stream basic stuff. So if anyone has any suggestions I could really do with some help. I've tried solving this for months and I am stumped. Thank you all
Notice the encoding issue clearly. Consider switching Discord to use a software encoder to shift some processing to the CPU, which should handle it more efficiently. Good luck!
In Settings - Advanced, have you attempted to disable or enable the hardware acceleration feature? I recently assisted someone with Discord voice chat, and the graphics card was operating at 50% encoding. After checking, the usage dropped to zero when closing the voice chat. It seems Discord might not be optimized well. Regardless, Discord behaves differently from OBS—whether it's resolution, encoding method, or server connection. You’ll need to identify which process consumes your resources. Additionally, your video encoding runs at full speed, yet your VRAM appears nearly at capacity as well. If VRAM overflows into regular RAM, you could face significant lag.
It appears the CPU usage remains stable. VRAM performance seems okay this time. I’m unsure if there’s a problem with Discord or Windows, but it doesn’t seem typical in my view. You might want to try streaming on another service like Zoom to check if utilization stays consistent. EDIT: I discovered something while searching. Disabling the H.264 option could shift some processing to your CPU.
I was out of the office recently. I've tested both methods, but it keeps struggling to exceed 2fps. The GPU is still being used somehow.
