I encountered issues with my games on the second M.2 slot in 990pro. After crashes, browsing files only shows a few layers and I get error messages about missing devices. The BIOS self-test, Crystal Disk Mark, and Samsung Magician all indicate the drive is functioning correctly. It seems to be a firmware or software problem rather than hardware failure. Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Is an easy solution available or does this require an RMA?

It seems like a poor signal if it functions initially but then fails. I’d consider returning it for repair. If possible, I’d try it on another computer or switch to a different M.2 slot first. Just to rule out the port issue.

Identify the issue and relocate the drive to a different port.

They consulted Samsung and recommended a secure erase to reinitialize the NAND chip. If the issue continues, contact the RMA department. A software update might have introduced a bug, so a reset could resolve it; otherwise, it’s a factory defect.

Secure Erase resolved the issue. The firmware update likely caused a glitch in the controller.
