The Ryzen calculator says it doesn't work for your RAM.
Here is a complete breakdown of my system's settings. The CPU has been overclocked using CTR. I want to squeeze the most performance possible out of this rig. My goal right now is to try and lower the CAS latency for my RAM by hitting 3800mhz. Since my memory runs in 1:1 mode, I only need a fclock maxed out at 1900mhz. I'm using the Ryzen DRAM Calculator tool to figure this out, but it won't let me finish. I checked all the boxes and numbers again, but when I click calculate, it throws an error saying "not supported." Why is that? https://imgur.com/Xu3U8aP
Because those numbers weren't filled in by themselves, you have to bring in the .html file from Thiaphoon Burner to put the time in on the lower left side. All of them are zero so it won't work. After you open Thaiphoon Burner and read your RAM, click on the Report Button. Then scroll all the way down and press show delay in nanoseconds. Next, click Export and pick complete HTML report. In the Calculator, go to Import XMP button and choose the .html file you just made from Thiaphoon Burner. Or you can try using an older version of the Ryzen Calculator to see if it can read those timings correctly and fill them all in by itself.
"Not supported"... Some numbers you type into the calculator aren't okay for this specific math trick. The computer might just wait until all your numbers are given before starting anything. When it finishes, the results show a mix of bad values that don't add up right, so the system says the DRAM OC (Overclock) settings are "not supported." I guess saying "won't work" would be clearer than "not supported," or maybe something else would fit better. Just try other numbers even if they don't match your needs perfectly. Get a "supported" message and then test those specific configurations instead.
I cannot access those settings or put text in there. I am not sure what numbers to type because they are blank by default. The only thing I typed was my RAM speed when I bought it, but maybe that's the problem?
Can you change anything else to make it possible for me to type a value into those fields? I don't know what rules control these fields. Basically, there is logic that decides whether user input works or not. For instance, with a calculator for shipping costs: if I enter the name (or abbreviation) of a state and a zip code, the software might check the zip code against a list of valid states. It might also check the zip code against another list. But it does both at the same time. The state must exist, and the zip code must exist in that specific state. So what other field controls CAS latencies? What stops you from entering something? Is the box "greyed out"? Or does an error message show up? Maybe there is a special code instead. If you enter a latency value that isn't applicable for some reason, or because another input was entered, the software might say "not supported." The only thing I can suggest right now is to contact Ryzen, tell them what values you typed in, and ask why those fields were blocked or why your numbers resulted in an error.
Since those numbers didn't show up by themselves: You have to import the .html file from Thiaphoon Burner to put them in the times on the bottom left side. They all say zero, which won't work. In Thiphon Burner after you read your RAM, click Report. Then scroll down all the way to the end and click Show Delay in Nanoseconds. Then click Export Button and pick complete HTML report. Then in the Calculator, click Import XMP Button and choose the .html file you just made with Thiaphoon Burner. Or try using older versions of the Ryzen Calculator and see if they can read those timings correctly and automatically fill the numbers.
I tried using what you showed me with my CPU and RAM, but it looks like the Dram Calculator won't let me pick a frequency higher than 3533 for Hynix AFR memory. AFR isn't actually the fastest type of Hynix memory available. I believe you'll need CJR or DJR to reach speeds above 3800.
