I’ll handle the hassle by making sure the 4080 stays close to its expected value while costing less than the 4080 when it launches. It won’t bridge the difference to the 4090.

for a 4080 super, I suggest going with the 5800x3d instead of the 5950x, especially for 4K resolution. even at 1080p, the performance gap is around 3-5%, which isn’t significant unless you prioritize extra cores for other tasks.

The Ryzen 2700X features eight cores and sixteen threads, whereas the 5950X offers sixteen cores split between two eight-core chips. More cores generally mean higher heat output, which explains why the 5950X has a lower base clock to meet the "105W" requirement. For gaming or tasks that benefit from X3D V-Cache, the 5800X3D edges out the 5950X. The 5950X combines sixteen cores in two eight-core chips, leading to some performance reduction from the communication between them. If extra cores are essential, opt for the 5950X. Otherwise, consider the 5800X, 5800X3D, or 5700X3D compared to the 5900X and 5950X.
