Comparing the two chips for 4K gaming: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 offers solid performance, while the Ryzen 7 7700X provides higher clock speeds and better multitasking. Decide based on your specific needs.

Your GPU will likely become the limiting factor well before the CPU does. Even with a solid setup like 6 cores and 12 threads, performance still depends heavily on your GPU's capabilities.

I'm sure a 12gb card such as the 4070 won't perform well at 4k. It's better to upgrade to a 4080 or a used 3090. I'd pick the 7700 non x because you can use the included cooler and the Wraith Prism is a solid stock cooler compared to the thin Wraith Stealth. Otherwise, go with a 7600(x) paired with a $20 tower on top.

I skip six cores in this new build unless costs are extremely tight. The 4070 matches top-end older models. It handles 4K well with proper settings. Under stress it’s more about power limits than memory limits. In my view, investing in a good cooler beats the cheaper AMD options unless you’re okay with loud operation.

Although there are some titles that need more memory, the general trend is different. You can usually run things smoothly at lower resolutions, and features like ray tracing often don’t improve visuals much and can even make games look worse.

Discussing only VRAAM limits isn't the point—running at higher resolution without better graphics just doesn’t make sense. For a smooth 4K experience on a 12GB card, you’d be better off with 1440p. A 16GB card would handle 4K comfortably, while 12GB won’t suffice for that quality. It’s all about matching the specs to your needs.

others usually don’t need as much VRAM, that’s what I’m saying. For those that do, you can just cut back the settings—it still looks fine! Short version: I think it’s not perfect, but it works for most games. The difference between high and low is mostly noticeable only at low settings, where performance jumps noticeably, which is true for the games people play regularly... even CP will run without max settings, just not at full speed.

You're asking about why sharper visuals aren't prioritized in lower-end graphics. It's interesting that you'd prefer clearer images even on less powerful hardware. The 4070 isn't a strong GPU, so it's limited by its VRAM. The Wraith Prism does seem noisy, but it's likely due to the fan rather than the graphics card itself. A better cooler could make a big difference if the noise is mainly from the fan. If it's just the fan, swapping it out for a quieter model might help. You're right to compare and test things yourself.

It really varies by game, but you might find around 10 titles where 12Gig isn't sufficient. Still, most popular and less popular games should work fine.
