Motherboard: Asus PRIME A320M-K
Processor: rx 580 4gb
Current CPU: Athlon 200ge (for now)
Memory: 16gb RAM, dual 8gb modules
I updated the BIOS on my PRIME A320M-K with the Athlon 200ge to support the Ryzen 5 5600. After installing the CPU and connecting the GPU, the system fails to display properly—lights spin but no error beeps. Resetting the CMOS didn’t help. Now I’m putting the Athlon 200ge back in, but there’s still no display.

To resolve this, I need to remove the GPU first and use the Intel Iris Xe (Igpu) in the Athlon 200ge. Then I should go into the BIOS, enable Rebar size and 4G encode to make the GPU visible.

Any other suggestions on how to get the Ryzen 5 5600 working?

some older rx580 cards encounter problems with UEFI using older vbios. check if you can locate newer vbios for your GPU model. you can search your card model here to identify updated versions. once identified, ensure the new vbios match the same manufacturer/model and memory specifications. if available, you can use this tool to flash your vbios.

AMD AMDVBFlash / ATI ATIFlash 5.0.874 Download
AMD AMDVBFlash is designed to update the graphics card BIOS. The ATI version was known as ATIFlash or simply WinFlash. it works with all AMD Radeon models. www.techpowerup.com

Usually, these older 300 series chipset boards need a way to upgrade the BIOS. If you do, it should let the new CPU run without supporting your Athlon anymore.
Are you sure you followed the BIOS version instructions during the update?

I follow the bios version notes closely.
This setup seems very interesting, I plan to try it today.
Ryzen 5 5600
ryzen stock cooler
asus prime a320m-k
16gb 2x8 3200mhz
I own both a hard drive and an SSD, and Windows is installed on the SSD.
Rx 580 4gb
500 watts
phanteks p300 red
Windows 10
165hz
acer eg240y monitor
The PSU age isn’t certain but I think it’s between 3-4 years.
For my motherboard, the BIOS version is 5862 to support the Ryzen 5 5600 and flash it to that version.
Yes, I cleared the CMOS after flashing the BIOS, which made Windows appear only, not the BIOS or splash screen – quite strange. If I restart the PC again, nothing should show up again.

500 watts is the advertised power rating of the unit. What is the model and name of the PSU?
The current BIOS version for your motherboard is 5862, which supports the Ryzen 5 5600 and includes flashing to this update.
For the Ryzen 5 5600 processor, it’s important to ensure you have the latest chipset drivers installed before updating the BIOS.
Did you verify that FTPM was turned off prior to the flash?

I have a Be Quiet! Pure Power 10 L10 500W. Also, obtaining chipset drivers for the Ryzen 5 5600 was confusing because I kept updating the BIOS with Athlon 200GE, switched the CPU to Ryzen 5 5600, and then set the rebar size and 4G encoding in the BIOS blindly. The display only worked once and showed Windows. I installed offline chipset drivers but after resetting it still didn’t show anything. I’m not sure what to do and it’s really confusing.

This appears to be either a BIOS compatibility or BIOS configuration problem. Given your experience with the Athlon, ensure you have the most recent chipset drivers installed. Obtain them from AMD's support page. Proceed by updating the BIOS to version 6241, resetting the CMOS, and check if this resolves the issue.
If I were you, I would have chosen a different processor for that board due to its inadequate VRM design. The Ryzen 5000 series is also recognized for high power consumption.

What motherboard would you suggest for the Ryzen 5 5600? I'm on a budget, so I'll look for the latest chipset drivers and then flash to 6241 while clearing the CMOS. At this stage, it might be better to upgrade to a new board since I've been using this one for 3-4 years.

If the tip above isn't effective, then we'll discuss purchasing a new motherboard.
