The Ryzen 3700X fails to power on with the ASUS X470 following a BIOS update.
I purchased a 3700x and an Asus ROG Strix x470-f gaming, anticipating a BIOS upgrade. I obtained a 2200g for a budget-friendly price, using it for the update and Windows installation—everything proceeded smoothly. All components functioned correctly, but when I reinstalled the 3700x, I encountered severe issues. The RGB lights on my mouse and keyboard activated as they did with the 2200g before the boot screen appeared. With the 3700x, however, nothing happened at all—no boot screen, no windows, complete failure. To verify I hadn’t damaged the MOBO during the switch, I reused the 2200g, which worked flawlessly. I attempted to boot with the 3700x before the update just to confirm it was necessary, but that also failed (unexpected since the box lacked the "ready for 3000" label). I’m using the MOBO HDMI out to a 1080p 60Hz TV, and while I’m close to a fully functional system, I haven’t found any solutions in my searches. I’m seeking assistance here. Here’s my setup: 3700x (hopefully), 2200g (current), Asus ROG Strix x470-f gaming (BIOS ver 5007), Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB, 3600Radeon 5700, Radeon RTX 5700, Samsung 1T 860 EVO SSD, EVGA Supernova G3 550W.
I tried launching without the GPU, testing all RAM options, but the 3700x isn’t working.
It really helped, though I’m feeling guilty for telling myself to give it a shot. I completely lost track of it when I got home from work yesterday. This is my first attempt, so it slipped right by. Thanks a ton!
You're receiving a 3700x arrival with identical boards. Are you still using BIOS 5007 or have you updated? Is everything functioning smoothly?
