The RTX 3070 frequently stops working right after launching a game.
Hey everyone, my 3070 has been running smoothly since Aug 21. It started crashing right after loading any game at native 1440p. It seems fine at lower resolutions. Once I switch to 1440p it crashes immediately. Temperatures have stayed consistently in the 60s for both CPU and GPU. The case has good airflow. I cleaned, re-seated everything, and even wiped the display drivers with DDU before reinstalling. I’m using a 750W Corsair RM that’s not close to its full power. Windows 10 x64 Event Log shows a display driver crash, but no specific details. It looks like a hardware issue at this point... any suggestions before I go to RMA the GPU?
Have you attempted a fresh driver installation? I've also noticed a corrupted registry—try running scanregw.exe in the run box and execute it.
Thanks for the update. I confirmed using DDU to fully wipe the drivers, and scanregw.exe appears inactive. The sfc /scannow scan showed no issues.
I have an ancient 5770 on hand... I'll give it a shot and let me know what happens.
