Hi, I've had my pc for over a year now, with no major issues, I am rocking an Intel i5-11400 on an Asrock H510-HVS mother board, with a Corsair CV650 PSU and 16GB of ram. My Zotac GTX 1060 mini 6GB has always worked fine with it, and was recognized instantly the first time that it was installed, and is still working if I take out the newer card. When the 1060 is not in, the iGPU will kick in. So far I have tried to manually install Nvidia drivers, disable all display adapter drivers, unplug and reconnect the GPU, windows updates, forced shut down, restore UEFI (BIOS) to default, and even a BIOS update (Asrock UEFI sucks, version is P1.90 whatever that means). I got this from a friend who bought a bunch for mining, but he claims that the one he gave me was never used for it, he gave it to me in box(Open but seemingly unused) and said he just tested it once to see if it works and it did. When connected to my PC there will be no signal, the fans on the GPU are spinning, and nothing shows on device manager (only the iGPU), if the onboard graphics are not connected I will not get image at all. Thing is, he had another card with the same conditions and I made him swap them, and the second one won't work either. I am running Windows 11 version 21H2 (22000.918) and installed the Nvidia game ready driver 516.94. The new card is an GeForce RTX 3060 MSI ventus 3x OC. Does anyone have any idea of what I can try next, thanks in advance for the help!

It looks like you're asking about connecting the 3060 and 1060 graphics cards together. Try setting both devices in the same PCIe slot and switch the BIOS settings to enable a separate discrete GPU.

Unlikely both GPUs would function at the same time. Either one or the other, with the nearest slot to the CPU being optimal. Most units wouldn't work elsewhere. Previously, I owned a RAM package that unknowingly caused stability problems, which I tried on three different boards, eventually finding a non-QVL status. The first board behaved almost identically to what’s described, one GPU worked while the other failed completely. It shut down after about ten attempts and wouldn’t function again until it was returned for repair. The system has remained unstable for over two years. The older RAM model is from 2020. After learning more about Boards #2 and #3, DIMMs were found to be loading at varying speeds in BIOS. It hasn’t been replaced yet, but I’m confident QVL-approved RAM will fix the problem. Board #2 had random startup failures with no display for every 8–12 cold boots. The DIMMs worked fine alone or together on that board, and swapping RAM and GPU from Board #3 didn’t resolve the issue, so it was returned for repair. Warning: RAM from board #3 matched the same brand and SKU. It was sent back with “could not duplicate issue.” The newer kit is from 2022. Board #3 constantly showed an hourglass cursor in Windows 10 on a single 16GB DIMM. Adding a second caused consistent no-video startup, whether alone or paired. The first DIMM started random audio-only and audio-video interruptions. I checked the RAM SKU against QVL lists for all three boards—none were listed. After installing QVL-recommended RAM on Boards #2 and #3, the problems stopped, and both machines ran faster. I’d suggest verifying your RAM SKU appears in the manufacturer’s QVL list for the specific board. If not, it might be a separate issue. If it is, it could still be faulty. The newer kit also seemed defective. Updated September 2, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more details

Both GPUs have never been used together on the same system; they don’t fit together. The setup only includes one x16 PCIe port. When the 1060 is installed, it functions properly with the 3060, but it defaults to IGPU. It seems the PC doesn’t even notice its presence, though I’m not sure if it’s important to mention that having the 3060 makes the system feel slower and a bit laggy, even though it usually runs smoothly.

I own two Kingston RAM sticks, each 8GB, but they’re quite sluggish. I believe the minimum requirement for DDR4 is around 2333, though they don’t match exactly—maybe one is an older version. Once I get back, I’ll experiment with them.

If they differ, it might be related to your issue directly. The age isn't a big factor; what matters more is the SKU and whether they're both single rank or dual rank—dual rank can affect certain configurations.
