The Rockstar Social Society
The Rockstar Social Society
Greetings everyone,
I’m trying to set up Rockstar Games in order to play Red Dead 2. During installation, I'm able to direct the Rockstar files to my secondary storage device. Nevertheless, the Social Club seems to install itself onto the C:\ drive. Do any of you have a way to resolve this issue? Thank you!
I’m unsure of the reason for that. I possess a secondary hard drive containing numerous programs.
It’s incredibly puzzling—you’re able to install the Rockstar Game Launcher onto a secondary drive, yet the Social Club consistently installs only on the C:\ drive. I’ve reinstalled it repeatedly with no success; there appears to be no method of getting it onto the alternate drive. I was particularly frustrated that this issue persists for a major game developer in 2019. My suspicion is they're doing this to gather more data. Regardless, it was so irritating, and frankly, I don’t typically support Rockstar or 2K games, that I requested a refund. I anticipate the same problem will occur when it’s eventually available on Steam—as I believe you need the Rockstar Launcher to play their titles, much like with Uplay. Thank you for your assistance!
Greetings, I recently discovered this previous post while addressing a similar inquiry. It appears you’re grappling with an issue that may not require resolution. The Social Club on C drive isn't the root of your difficulties; simply installing the primary game—which is 82GB—on a smaller C drive can cause problems due to their limited capacity compared to secondary drives. Based on your description, are you also without other Rockstar titles? The traditional launcher functioned as a quick access point for games like GTA V or whatever title you were launching. Recently, the launcher has been updated, and mine now displays both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption if I choose to purchase them.
Concerning “data collection,” companies can obtain information regardless of their stated policies. Companies like Epic, GOG, and Rockstar are introducing Steam-like interfaces, which is a positive development because, should you need to reboot your PC to a fresh state, you can simply reinstall the launchers.
A QUICK TIP: I always back up these launchers onto a USB drive before use, as I’ve previously experienced difficulties retrieving older games. I'm hoping to play some classic Ubisoft titles but am blocked when attempting to log in and launch the launcher—it indicates my email is already registered, which it is! Consequently, I have numerous unusable games. Creating a new account prevents me from accessing my saved games because it starts with no existing data. Ubisoft tends to be unresponsive with customer support.
