I just added a riser cable (Fractal Design FD-A-FLX2-002 Flex 2 Pcie 4 Riser) and noticed some issues. When I power on my PC through the screen, it stays black. However, connecting an extra monitor to the motherboard's HDMI port works fine, and once connected to the GPU, everything functions properly. Removing the screen from the board fixes the problem, but when I restart with just the GPU in the riser cable, the issue resurfaces until I plug in another monitor. I’m not familiar with BIOS settings, so I’m hoping someone can help resolve this. Thanks!

PC Specs: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 MSI PRO B650-S Wifi (MS-7E26)
MSI RTX 4060 Ventus 2X 8GB OC Kingston Fury Beast 2x16GB DDR5 5600MHz
Windows 11 Version 23H2

I strongly dislike most riser setups because they underperform, causing the entire GPU to sag. Changing the orientation wouldn’t help.

It's a solid piece, and I'm hoping it fits perfectly on my GPU side.

No, I can't adjust the PCIe link speed directly. You must configure it through your system's BIOS or driver settings.

I also tested auto, 3.0 and 4.0, they all produced the same outcome.

The risers fail to hold properly. It seems to malfunction when connected directly to the mainboard.

Using GPU straight from the mainboard delivers optimal performance

I would think the riser is faulty and order a replacement.
