I believed a few individuals would value Microsoft's strong assurances and the unexpected twist. They managed to voice their opinions in early 2018 when the real launch date arrived just one day before the new year. I'm also feeling let down because I've been eagerly anticipating this title since the trailer was unveiled.

They likely phrased it this way to avoid having to adjust the date if there were further delays.
