The referenced memory could not be accessed.
Hi there. Let me try to simplify this for you. I just set up Windows on an SSD after my old HDD failed due to the same issue, hoping a clean install would help. It worked for about three days, but today it happened again with the new drive and fresh installation. Skype.exe shows a serious error, and the computer becomes unresponsive—programs freeze, no cursor appears, but nothing crashes or blue-screens. The message says: "The instruction at 0x01afd0ca referenced memory at 0x00000014. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate program." I can’t close it because everything hangs. Could this mean my processor or RAM is faulty? Also, I have two drives with fresh installs, and it’s happening now. Any advice would be really appreciated.
First I’d inspect each RAM stick individually using Memtest86+... to ensure everything is fine. (I’m not sure it’s the processor, as it wouldn’t function at all.) Next, if the RAM checks out, run a quick "SFC /SCANNOW" from the Windows command prompt with admin rights. If you see errors like “could not fix them all,” verify the recovery partition status by executing “Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth.” Should it report issues, proceed with “Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth” and confirm the corruption is resolved. Finally, execute “sfc /scannow” a few times to clean up any remaining problems. Let me know what happens.
If anyone knows error codes that not pretty much tell exactly where the problem is..? such if this ia the error code for ram?
the ssd is brand new and comes with a brand new os. the video card is also brand new, so i’ll treat it as the ram for now.
