Hey! I'm just getting started with this site. I recently swapped my CPU from Ryzen 5 5600X to Ryzen 9 5900X. When I tried launching COD:MW2 or Chivalry, it crashed. Other games like Ground Branch and High on Life work fine. I'm not sure if the issue is with the cooler or something else. I checked the 5900X's 105 TDP specs and confirmed it should handle it, but I also ran a PSU voltage test—750V seems sufficient for my 3070 Ti and the new CPU. My GPU is an Amp Holo RX 3070 Ti with 8GB RAM, and I'm using a Noctua NH-u12A cooler. My PSU is a Corsair RM750 ATX power supply with Gold certification.

No, I did not reset the BIOS after installation.

It might be a BIOS problem, though the board or its VRMs could struggle with a 5900X.

Yes, switching the motherboard could potentially resolve the issue.

You're thinking about the ones with 12V power, right? Just to clarify, you mentioned seeing "EATX 12V" — that's likely a specific model or product.

Check the newest BIOS updates here: https://rog.asus.com/desktops/mid-tower/...desk_bios/. Downloading the latest chipset drivers from AMD might help. The cooler isn't ideal for the 5900X—it tends to overheat, causing shutdowns or performance drops. A new motherboard could fix the problem. If you own a brand-new 5900X, would you consider returning it? It doesn’t offer much extra gaming power compared to the 5600X, like stacking two 5600X chips in an era where most titles use fewer than 6 cores and 12 threads.

Great news! The BIOS update is now active. I was expecting it since the Mobo came from a prebuilt unit, but I wasn’t sure where to find it. Upgrading was the right move for my 3D rendering projects, and I appreciate your help. Those looking to upgrade but mainly play games will find it useful too.
