I suspect that the display is connected to the DSI connector and might be getting power directly from the Pi if it's wired via GPIO (and they're using the official Raspberry Pi 7" touchscreen display) or is plugged into a USB port on the Pi to draw power. If the above is correct then the OP should try to get an official Pi zero (5.1V 2.5A) power supply just to power the display (that is if they are using the official raspberry Pi 7" touchscreen display) and take some of the load off the Pi.

The device uses a compact screen inside the case. The Pi comes with a standard power adapter.
