I'm assembling my first PC and got some Evga DDR4 RAM that fits. I have two 8GB sticks and a DDR4 motherboard with CPU. I made sure the notch lines up with the memory slots, and when I push the RAM in, the side notch stays in place. I've applied a lot of pressure evenly, but it still won't go in. I'm worried about breaking the RAM but think the force might be the issue. I'll share a photo so you can see.

Additionally, you can see the levers on the side; I'm not sure if this is typical.

Inspect the socket, verify if anything is obstructing your RAM from fitting correctly. The photo suggests alignment might be off—confirm. Consider testing with other sockets as well.

Yes, I open the sockets first to prepare them in this state.

I added flash to the image which made the gold contacts more visible, while the RAM stays correctly positioned in its slot. Also, I’m installing the motherboard directly from the box and there’s no cover on the memory slots.

Don't worry about applying too much pressure. You can't shatter anything like Hulk. Just place the MoBo on a rough surface and give the sticks a solid push. It should go through easily then.

Yes, if the RAM is fully inserted, you should be able to see the gold contacts clearly.

Okay sometimes on a MOBO there is 1 on each side of the slot. Open both and push evenly onto both sides

Occasionally it doesn't make sense, so enter the BIOS and see if it's present
