The Question Game isn’t running smoothly at very high frame rates.
I’m running at a consistent 144fps with my 144Hz monitor, but the game still doesn't feel as smooth as I see in streams and on YouTube – even though those are capped at 60fps. It actually seems less fluid than my stable 144fps. I looked into this and someone suggested lowering my FPS to 142, but that didn’t make any difference. I checked my frametimes using MSI Afterburner, and they're perfectly steady with no overheating issues at all. Strangely, sometimes when I’m in open areas of the game, it runs really smoothly, but in densely populated areas, even though my FPS stays at 144, it still feels a bit jerky – there isn’t much difference in frametimes.
Here are my specs:
RTX 2060 Super OC
16GB HyperX RAM (2600MHz OC to 3000MHz)
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (3.6GHz)
MSI A320 Pro Max
Corsair VS650
Sometimes, a problem can be just having one stick of RAM – like 16GB. And if your display is set to 144Hz, are you actually making sure the monitor itself is running at that speed? Monitors don’t automatically switch to higher refresh rates; you usually have to manually enable it.
Just so you know, I also wanted to add that I’d turned on G-Sync with this FreeSync monitor and I’ve configured FreeSync to use the Ultimate Engine setting.
