Hey there, I'm trying to change the RAM but this is my first time doing it. A friend suggested I just copy the timing settings from the same model but at a faster speed. For example, if my Vengeance RGB PRO 3200mhz has timings 16-18-18-36, should I use 18-19-19-39 for 3600mhz? Does that sound right? Also, the rest of the system includes an I7-9700k at 5ghz with a 1.275v boost, a ROG Strix OC 1080ti with +0.85mv, +60 cores, and +400 mem, and a ROG Strix z390-F motherboard. Thanks!

It could be possible, but it may depend on additional voltage. You might require up to 1.4V to achieve the desired result.

I really question if a 3200 unit will perform well at 3600.

Also boost the voltage together with the timing adjustments.

Increase the V to 1.4, set the speed to 3600mhz, apply the 18-19-19-39 settings from the stock 3600mhz kit.
Check for stability and that's roughly all you need?

Thanks a lot for the quick help
The kit reached 3733 on the tom'shardware review, and 3600 on the Guru3D... I guess there is only one way to find out for myself!

Checked 3600 at 1.4v with timings 18-19-36, ran AIDA64 for an hour and everything worked fine!

Question about adjusting lower V settings for CPU performance or if heat isn't a concern.
