The technology behind those powerful phones... which models are included? Are lower-end options left out? And what about the Pixel 3a and the new Pixel 4a?

When Qualcomm can maintain market share though monopolistic behavior and not making competitive products, they have very little incentive to make sure they are secure.

They might be talking about the Snapdragon SoC as a DSP, but it could also just refer to the integrated DSP component.

I'm curious about how Mediatek Dimensity and Samsung's Exynos compare in this area. Do they have similar weaknesses or is Snapdragon the only one affected? Also to you, hope anyone manages to fix any issues on Android devices with poor update histories. Perhaps new models this year will replace older ones that are still struggling to get updates.

They should feel the impact too. It seems the author views Qualcomm as a premium label, while a budget model might use a Mediatek chip instead. Snapdragon processors include an integrated DSP. The brand name is Hexagon, and they are available in all types of Snapdragon chips.

Certainly, the writer seems to treat the entire SoC as a dedicated DSP unit.
