About two weeks ago I upgraded my PC with an RTX 3060 OC from gigabyte. In the past two days I've noticed occasionally the power indicator on the GPU would flash, suggesting the 8 pin connector might be faulty. Recently the GPU indicator flashed again, causing the PSU to spark and the GPU to shut down completely, though the RAM lights stayed on with my RGB setup. I quickly unplugged the PC and removed the GPU. It didn<|pad|>'s it smell or show any visible damage—no burnt marks. I've already ordered a new PSU from Asus. The previous one was a faulty Acteck, so I didn’t want to risk replacing it without funds. I’m just hoping someone can confirm if my GPU is still functional. I’m really excited about it!

Only one method exists: link the entire PC to another power supply, switch it on, and observe the outcome.

I understand. I just placed the new PSU order, as there aren't any tech stores nearby. It could take up to three days... I'm really disappointed. I'm pretty sure the GPU failed... Just wish it hadn't happened.

What PSU did you purchase? If you previously had a budget PSU, adding another low-end one might not be the best choice.

Consider checking the GPU shield for burn marks or try a different PSU to see if it improves performance. It doesn’t emit any odor and lacks visible damage.

Hold on a bit longer. Avoid opening it right now. The chances aren't worth it until you've successfully restarted it on the updated PSU.
