After logging in to Windows, "explorer" and "sihost" stop working. When I manually run "explorer," it crashes while trying to start "sihost." I removed "sihost" from "ShellInfrastructure" using regedit, and now "explorer" works after startup. However, the Start menu, Action Center, and volume changer aren't functioning. There seems to be an issue reinstalling "Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost" or logging events for Cortana after a restart. I ended up installing Windows Update via the installer, which didn’t help me understand what was happening. Updated January 30, 2017 by Torsvik

no active sihost.exe process running, just planning to make a bootable USB for Windows and attempt a system fix from there.

I've been working on some issues and discovered that opening Edge triggers an explorer.exe error with "class not registerd." After attempting to run regsvr32 ExploreFrame.dll, the scan didn't detect anything. It seems I'm running out of options.
