Hi, over the past week my Windows has been acting up significantly. It’s not completely broken, but it’s become unreliable. Whenever I attempt to start my PC, I face two main problems: first, it loops endlessly trying to boot into Windows, bypassing BIOS; second, once it does boot, the system freezes after a few minutes to an hour and then gets stuck in an endless loop when I try to restart. I also notice frequent stuttering during gameplay, especially every 5 to 10 seconds. CPU and GPU temps are normal under heavy use, staying in the high 60s to low 70s, so hardware isn’t the main suspect. The PC still boots into BIOS without trouble, but only fails when trying Windows. There’s also a chance of a blue screen with the Driver Power State Failure error. I’m planning to reinstall Windows to see if that resolves it, but I’m wondering if this might be related to my hardware or something else I haven’t considered. My build is about three years old, and the components look up-to-date for modern games. Have you tried any other troubleshooting steps before this point?
I observed a similar issue with my machine. The challenge was that it was connected to the internet during the Windows installation, which caused interruptions while updates were being downloaded. To resolve this, I disabled internet access before starting the install. I removed the cable from the back of the device and then performed a clean installation using the included drivers. I bypassed the license key prompt to speed up the process. Once the installation finished, I reconnected the cable and resumed the update. This method took longer but ultimately solved the problem. Consider it worth trying. Good luck!
Thanks for your assistance. I'm currently testing MemTest86 to evaluate my hardware, as suggested by another forum member before fully installing a new Windows version. I'll definitely consider it again if I don't see improvement.
