The program is attempting to access your microphone unexpectedly.
It appears a microphone icon in your taskbar indicates an app is using your microphone. You can check which app is active by looking at the list of running applications or by right-clicking the icon to see details. To stop it, you may need to disable the app or adjust its settings within the application itself.
I used a Windows bloat tool and fully disabled Cortana earlier, which means it won’t work anymore.
I own a laptop, and it doesn't really matter if it's on or off. I chose to turn it off in the control panel. Now everything works just fine. I'm still curious about why it kept using the microphone.
Cortana wasn’t built with uninstallation in mind, which means the 'debloater' likely won’t eliminate all parts and connections on the system without triggering issues from fixed OS rules. This situation was similar for Internet Explorer in the past, explaining why it took time to remove IE completely from Windows as a necessary part. It’s highly probable this feature still exists as a remnant of Cortana, and it can’t be turned off fully, nor does it function properly to receive input or produce results without the Cortana interface.
