My CPU is overheating and I don’t understand the cause. I used my PC all day in the evening, it shut down completely, so I looked up the troubleshooter and discovered the issue was high temperature. The machine is five years old and has never had any problems before. My AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor shows a temperature of 76.4°C / 169°F, which is too high when idle. Is this a typical problem for this model? I’m not sure what to do except cleaning the area where I was working.

Which one are you using? It seems like something might not be working right—like the pump in an AIO or the fan paired with an air cooler.

The sensor reading at 90A with only 2% CPU usage is alarming, since that level of load shouldn’t match typical idle performance. It could mean the sensor is faulty, or there’s hidden background activity causing high usage without proper reporting. Possibly your cooling system and motherboard both experienced simultaneous failures, the software has an error, or a virus is present requiring a Windows reinstall.

First check if the AIO pump is working properly—it should produce a clear noise when it's running. That’s why I avoid AIOs; they often stop unexpectedly, and you might not realize anything is wrong until things get out of control.
