It doesn’t resemble coil whine, though it already contains that sound near the computer. I notice a low-pitched humming coming from across the room, which bothers me. Online reports suggest CST settings might be causing it, but I haven’t adjusted anything yet. I’m curious if others have experienced this issue. I own an MSI B550M Edge Wi-Fi motherboard and encountered the problem on my X570 Gigabyte Aorus. My power supply is a 750W HX Corsair unit.

Which graphics card is connected? Processors don’t produce sound, but power supply might cause a minor whine in the VRM area.

This MSI B550M Gaming Edge Wifi G skill Trident RGB is a 3600mhz Ryzen 5600x with Gigabyte OC Gaming 3070 and Samsung 980 M2 processor, paired with a 512gb Samsung SSD (1tb). The sound isn’t coil whine or ticking—it’s a low-frequency hum that appears during idle and startup. Under stress testing, the noise intensifies.

Confirm if the sound originates from the power supply unit.

I removed it and put it close to the PC. Positioning my head directly on the motherboard confirmed the sound originated from the CPU area.

It's quite unusual then... if you experimented with two distinct motherboards and the problem persisted, it might point to the CPU. I'm unfamiliar with CPUs producing any sound at all. Attempting a return warranty could be ineffective since coil whine doesn't influence component performance or lifespan.

I owned a S462 2600+ with a ticking noise at 2v vcore. I’m wondering if a Q6600 was audible too, possibly at the top of its clocks—though it might have been my E6300. This kind of effect feels like resonance; is it coming from the board or something else?

Coilwhine doesn't tick like a clock; it produces buzzing or humming sounds. This type of noise usually comes from components on your motherboard rather than the CPU itself.

I've tested two distinct motherboards but the issue persists.
