I'm setting up my first PC and noticed the CPU was stuck at a steady 95°C with no activity. The machine runs an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X and comes with a CoolerMaster MasterLiquid ML240L AIO cooler.

The cooler isn't functioning properly—possibly due to a loose connection or missing plastic wrap on the cooler unit.

It's designed to constantly increase frequency up to 95c. Switching on eco mode slightly reduces performance but offers some temperature advantages. Is the device truly inactive?

I took off the plastic wrap from the cooler block and applied the thermal paste. The CPU performance displayed only 1% at a temperature of 95 degrees.

Turn off PBO and any other OCR settings you've activated, plus disable hard CPU ratios.

It seems there’s an issue with the cooler. Did you accidentally swap the RGB and power cables? Are the fans running? In my opinion, a 240A model may not suffice for the 7900X under heavy load, though it should stay below 95°C during idle.

Re-evaluate the heatsink placement and inspect the paste distribution on each side for any visible issues. Also, consider that the pump should be rotating significantly if it isn’t properly positioned in the header. Typically, the correct header is near the CPU and clearly marked.

I just checked the heatsink and saw what the paste looks like.

I placed the cable for the cooler here. For the 7900x, I recommend checking out the recommended AIO options.
