I'm working with my media library and facing performance issues. Every time I apply properties, my disk usage stays stuck at full and RAM spikes high even with just a few files. The D: drive holds the files, but when using SMB on a NAS it still behaves like a page file. My system has 4-5 GB files, 14 applied at once, yet RAM feels overloaded—especially since Explorer uses 37% of memory. The drive is labeled as a page file, though I'm unsure why. The SSD is on D: but it's consuming a lot of RAM and stressing the page file. This will be a page file setup, but I don't know why it's using so much memory. Same here. 5900x @4.8, 32 GB, 3,600MT. Attempting to switch files from compressed to uncompressed on a 7,200 RPM "Movie and TV Show" storage. Changing 30 movies in one folder takes about 10 minutes.

Your situation might be affected by high memory usage and having the page file on this drive, causing tasks to slow down because the drive is very busy. I suggest moving the page file to an SSD (like the boot drive). If there isn’t enough space, disable hibernation with "powercfg /hibernate off" and run "disk cleanup," making sure to remove system files.
