I'm not sure about everything, but all my upgrades worked out okay. A few were a bit slower, but there were no big problems except for some app compatibility issues. This year I did a few new installs on those machines, though—maybe because I didn't clean the OS or I changed the hardware.

What if I format my HDD. Then use the media creation tool to make installation media on another computer and use that to reinstall win8.1 . Will it mess up with the key?
