I encountered a virus that causes ads to appear whenever I click, either right or left. Some pop-ups redirect me to other tabs while others show up on the site I’m visiting. The ads on regular websites display “ads by lucky bright.” I searched for removal tips and found this link: https://malwaretips.com/blogs/ads-by-luc...t-removal/. I followed all the steps but it didn’t resolve the issue. Since no suspicious programs showed up in my list, I tried restoring my system to a previous state, but the process failed with errors about unknown problems. I read that this might be due to antivirus or malware interfering. I decided to boot into Safe Mode to avoid third-party interference, but it also failed. Now it says “System restore failed, an unknown problem occurred.” I’m confused and frustrated. Anyone have a solution? Thank you. I’m not very experienced with this, so I’m unsure if this is the right place. I should mention that one of the antimalware tools I used fixed the problem on Firefox, but I don’t use it much—mostly Chrome. I checked other browsers too (Firefox, IE, Edge, Chrome) and only Chrome seems to trigger these ads.

Have you explored Malwarebytes? Also, which browser are you using—IE or a modern one like Chrome?

It would be best to simply reinstall the operating system, especially if other standard choices didn’t work.

Get Malwarebytes, then perform a scan or cleanup. Link: https://www.malwarebytes.org/

Alright... So, I guess it's time. Honestly, if I were infected, I'd probably just go through it anyway due to my worries.

This process is not overly complex, but it can have effects. Does your hard drive risk being erased?

Great news! Just remove the software and anything suspicious like adware. Open Internet Explorer (or Chrome) and run a scan with Malwarebytes. If it fails, try ComboFix—don’t skip this step. Make sure no unknown extensions are left behind.
