Hi, I’m experiencing a significant problem. My gaming PC is producing excessive noise while playing games such as The Witcher 3, and this hasn't occurred previously. I attempted cleaning the dust, but the noises persist, and the base speed has altered. It now frequently exceeds 4.07 during gameplay, even when playing Borderlands 2, which was quieter before. Additionally, I sometimes hear a peculiar sound within the case, though it’s difficult to describe. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated (and please note that I'm relatively new to computer hardware).

Your computer’s sound originates from just a few moving components – primarily your case, graphics card, and central processing unit fans. These can generate considerable noise, particularly when temperatures increase due to gaming, which triggers the fans to spin faster. This suggests a potential issue with one of the fans, possibly an imbalance or physical interference. Alternatively, I would investigate whether you have any hard disk drives; older models utilize rotating platters that could be the source of the sound and become louder during active use. However, my primary suspicion remains with the fans themselves – something within one of them must be malfunctioning. Finally, your power supply unit might also contain a fan contributing to the noise. I’m unable to identify any other possible causes at this time.

The initial frame rate has been altered since I previously experienced issues where it consistently locked at 4.07; now it operates at a higher value.

We’re discussing computer performance.

I would examine the computer case to determine the source of the unusual sounds.

Specifically, am I investigating the graphics card or the central processing unit cooler?

Or is there another component causing the problem?

I'd utilize tools like Afterburner or HWInfo to monitor temperature readings—both at idle and during periods of instability—and share the data here.

Thank you for your response, sir. I investigated the issue and was attempting to pinpoint the source of the sound as I suspected it might be related to the cables. Upon returning to test The Witcher 3, I observed several unusual occurrences: the frame rate typically displayed 60 fps, but it rose to 83-90; additionally, the noise level began to escalate. My system specifications are GTX 1060 6GB and i5-8600k with 16GB of RAM. See the following example for demonstration: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/5...video0.mov. I apologize if this is provided through the Discord link, but I was also coordinating with other users to illustrate how the sound became progressively louder, culminating in a grinding noise at the conclusion.

Your computer’s sound originates from a limited number of moving components, primarily your case, graphics card, and central processing unit fans. These can generate significant noise, particularly when temperatures increase due to gaming activity, which triggers increased fan speeds. This suggests a possible issue with one of the fans – perhaps it is misaligned or contacting another part. Alternatively, I would investigate whether you have any traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), as these contain spinning platters that can produce sound and become louder during operation. However, my primary suspicion remains with the fans; something within them must be malfunctioning. Your power supply unit (PSU) might also incorporate a fan generating noise. Beyond these possibilities, I cannot readily identify any other internal components with moving parts. A water pump, if present in your cooling system, would likely produce minimal sound.

Adjust your fan's velocity to a quiet setting.

I attempted that, but the problem continues. Essentially, while I’m attempting to play games, the frame rate increases significantly and the fan spins extremely rapidly until it produces an unusual sound.
