Testing both at 60 Hz to observe the effect. I have 144 Hz and 60 Hz set, and it seems smooth in exclusive fullscreen, but issues appear in borderless mode as usual.
Seems like little change after adjusting to 60Hz. Reinstalling drivers helped a bit but the game still stutters most of the time. I’ll stick with FPS titles for now. Looking forward to getting a 144Hz monitor soon—any suggestions for a good IPS or VA panel?
I own an Asus VG248, it's fine. The color reproduction is decent, likely using a TN or VA panel, viewing angles are acceptable, and response time is quite fast. There’s no noticeable ghosting. My main concern is the panel quality – it consistently feels like a B or C grade. After a year, its backlight uniformity wasn’t great; some areas looked brighter or darker on a gray background, and I noticed streaks over time. I also experienced two dead pixels during that period. I replaced it under warranty, but within a week the issue appeared again. The backlight consistency is poor too – one side has a bright spot followed by a dark one. After adjusting the panel’s edge, I think the problem lies with the plastic casing pressing too tightly onto the LCD in certain spots, causing uneven light distribution. This results in uneven brightness for about half a minute after gentle cleaning. TL;DR: The VG248 is just average, and it’s the only one I’ve used. I own two others with similar issues, but their color and angles are better. I wouldn’t suggest this model if you need consistent picture quality. I’ll skip 144 Hz on my next purchase and opt for a higher-end OLED or IPS panel suited for professional use. These budget gaming panels are really disappointing right now.
