The ink reservoir, not the waste one, is leaking and the yellow color is the issue. You can try replacing it with a fresh supply.

I attempted to seal the ink tank with Scotch tape thinking it might fix the issue, but the leak persisted. Could a tube be responsible?

Sorry, but I’m not connected to the printer at the moment. It came from a user I was helping at my workplace. I’ll look into the tubes again once I have access, or I can pass it along to someone who can repair it.
