You're thinking about upgrading your hardware to boost performance, but it depends on what you're trying to achieve. Consider whether a new motherboard and cooler will address your main bottleneck before exploring CPU overclocking.

Look on eBay and nearby vendors for a refurbished Z97. For a fast and simple speed increase, try setting it to 1.29V with a multiplier of 46. This should provide a noticeable performance improvement.

I'll begin right away. I'll check back in a few days and share the results, thanks!

New AAA games typically need at least 16GB of RAM to function properly at high settings. Most recent titles will need a minimum of 8GB to run smoothly at medium settings in 1080p or lower resolution. This requirement has been consistent since late 2015, and I've seen several PCs struggle with performance because they only had 8GB of memory.

The DDR4 model doesn't fit your device or processor.

Your site is really old, except for the tiny addition of more DDR3 RAM—it's not worth investing further. If I had your situation, I’d switch to a newer system right away.

It's a common misconception. A 4790k remains competitive compared to today's mid-range processors.
