Hi, recently decided to check out to see if there's any issues with my gpu because I've been noticing lower quality and worse performance during gaming. I went into control panel to see if my preferred graphics processor was set to high quality performance, however I cannot seem to find the selection anywhere, I have a gtx1060 6gb, and i7-2600k, and recently had RAM trouble and had to replace a stick. There is another post on this forum from 2020 about this topic however it is unresolved and not really helpful for me. I'm pretty sure I have the most up to date drivers but I just updated them a few months ago and its been running poorly before that, however I'm sure its possible I somehow mess up while downloading or something. I really don't want to uninstall and reinstall drivers because it can cause problems however if I have to obviously I will. Edit: Also I found a reddit post describing my issue and someone answered saying Windows OS handles graphics processor selection now so maybe there isn't an issue there since I have it selected as high performance, though I still think my performance is below what it should be.

Have you turned on the GPU in your BIOS? By default, it’s turned off unless a specific card such as the GTX 1060 is present.

Besides what @WoodenMarker shared, I found updating nvidia drivers straightforward. Just get the right ones for your GPU and choose the 'clean install' when installing. Very simple. You can find the drivers here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/ Also, regarding adding a new RAM stick, make sure it matches your existing one—using the wrong type can cause issues like slowness or instability. If they’re compatible, check if you’ve configured the XMP profile in BIOS; otherwise, your RAM will run at very low speeds.
