I am building my first gaming PC. So I put everything together, and the power supply won't turn on at all. I have tried different electrical sockets that i know work. I have tried a different power cable that i know works. I checked multiple times that i had the switch to on. A friend told me there should be a light on the PSU that lights up when it is plugged in and turned on. There is no light, there is no humming, no sound at all. The PSU is : MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Besides being a bad PSU, is there anything else that could be causing this to happen. If one of the cables isn't fully inserted will that cause it to not turn on for some safety reason? I probably should have tested it before i hooked everything up. Any thoughts?

I noticed the long discussion thread. Apologies for joining without prior experience—hope it helps. I’ll follow the advice in that thread. Any additional tips would be appreciated. Thanks for clarifying!

Power sources lack built-in indicators to show they're active. You might attempt bypassing the PSU and checking if the fan operates without a PC connection.

Did your PSU include any components with indicators? Not every PSU has lights, but when you power it up it should start the fan briefly. Another option is to use a screwdriver or a metal tool to manually jump the motherboard headers for the power button connection. The user manual usually explains which headers to touch and where to connect the power cable. Sometimes the issue is that the power button isn’t working properly, but using a screwdriver on those connections can get it running.

I used the paper clip test and only heard a faint click from the PSU. It also clicks when I remove the clip. Turning on the PSU with the clip inside didn’t produce any action. It seems like the PSU might be faulty.

You received another power supply but it didn't last long. The system booted up after jumping the board a few times, but it stopped working quickly. Fans and RGB stayed functional initially. After resetting the power switch, it failed completely. It seems there might be an issue with either the motherboard or the case's power switch cable. You have the Phanteks Eclipse G500A case and an MSI Pro Z790A Max Wi-Fi board. Any advice?

I managed to restart it again, but it shuts off after roughly two seconds. Unclear if this is normal. Can I adjust the cable or should I replace the case?
