This is my previous update about issues with my PC.
Initially, I was unsure where to place this since it's my first time here. Please help me sort it into the right category. My computer has been behaving strangely lately. One day while playing a AAA game, everything started acting oddly.
Here are the details of my setup:
- Motherboard: Asrock B550M Pro4
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- Cooler: Deepcool Gamma Xxx series
- RAM: 16GB (2x8GB T-force Delta, DDR4 3600)
- GPU: MSI RTX 3060TI Gaming X (dual fan)
- Power Supply: DK 1stplayer 600W Bronze 80+
- Case: Cube Gaming Friel with 3 front fans
- Additional fans: 5 extra
- Monitor: AOC 24G2E (24-inch, 144Hz)
My goal is to upgrade the PSU in the future. I plan to:
- Switch to a 50W PSU when the RTX 60 series arrives
- Match my CPU and GPU upgrades accordingly
- Install more RAM (4x 8GB or 4x 16GB)
- Consider a new motherboard with AM5 slots if needed
- Anticipating this upgrade between 2026-2027
I’m wondering if an 850W Gold 80+ PSU is too much for my needs.

I recommend a 2x16 or 2x32 configuration. With four sticks, the memory controller might slow down the RAM speed. On the other hand, this isn't a major concern. A 4x kit could be more accessible or cost-effective, so feel free to go for it. Just noting that 2x is the best option.
You mention 50XX or 60XX series but don't specify the GPU you're looking at?
An 850w PSU might be a bit excessive. We really don’t know how much power the new GPUs will need. It could be less than now, or it could be more.
With a good PSU, you won’t waste energy, so an 850w is a smart choice.
If you were to purchase a 4060 today, a 750w or even a 650w PSU would suffice. A 750w would provide extra capacity for a future GPU that demands more power.
In summary, 850w makes sense. Choose a PSU with a 10-year warranty. Check reviews, especially on hwbusters.com, to find a reliable but quiet unit. Small details like this matter.

Hi thanks again, okay if two sticks is better, I could get either 2x16 or 2x32, it shouldn't be difficult since my current RAM is 2x8. For the GPU, I think I'll go for a mid-range 50 series model, like 5060 or 5070 (unless 60 from 40 series is more, then maybe 5070 or 5080). I don't mind the PSU being a bit noisy either; I'm pretty sure my bike will be much less annoying during normal riding. LMAO. As for the country, it's Indonesia, so prices might be higher than the MSRP, so I tried to follow the PSU guide as a reference and will update my post with the PSU I found interesting.
If you keep your RAM usage under ~20Gb yet purchase 64Gb, you're likely wasting your investment. I believe you probably don’t need that much memory. I’m not trying to be boastful, just recommending a 32Gb option instead. That size will be more affordable and offer better performance.
