Hi everyone. I recently swapped my old Corsair CV750 with a new MSI MPG A850GF PSU. Since the replacement, I've noticed a noticeable buzzing sound that wasn't there before. All other PC parts remain unchanged. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the new power supply. Every time I turn on the main power switch, it starts making a buzz. Activating the secondary switch on the PSU and booting up the computer produces the same noise. The sound disappears only when the main switch is turned off. Turning off the secondary switch doesn't eliminate it. A video recording of the issue before and after switching the main switch is available for reference. Any suggestions or clarification would be really helpful! VID_20230801_222217.mp4

Coil whine is a type of noise that may diminish with use or increase in intensity. If the issue persists, reach out to customer support for a return authorization.

I understand, thanks for letting me know! It’s unclear whether it’s coil whine or something else, as the buzzing occurs even without the PSU switch on. I’m now more confident about filing an RMA. Appreciate your help!

Thank you for your feedback and insights. It seems I didn't find much specific information about PSU coil whine except during operation with the main switch on. Most discussions focus on coil whine generally. Since I suspect it might be an RMA issue, I'll reach out to the seller for further assistance. Appreciate your help!

It might be an arc issue. Move the connector into the power supply and check if the problem persists.

Hi, thanks for your message. I agree with your concerns. After testing, the noise persists even after plugging in and giving a slight jolt. Considering alternatives, using a different power cable from another appliance might help, but I’m unsure if it’s suitable. Since I don’t have a dedicated PSU cable for troubleshooting now, you might want to try that as well. Let me know what you think!

I would only choose PSU cable for safety purposes.
