The plague called Beats Audio
The plague called Beats Audio
A few months back I purchased a new HP laptop at a reasonable price with solid performance, but the drawback was poor audio quality. The software and equalizer included were extremely bad—no matter what I tried, there was always harsh treble or overly bassy sound. It became so unpleasant that listening was uncomfortable. After turning it off, the bass completely vanished. I attempted to uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers, but it reappeared. I don’t want to erase my data or have a Windows 8.1 installation, so anyone can assist me in finding a better solution?
I’d think about skipping Windows 8.1 altogether... My idea would be saving everything crucial, using DBAN, then installing Windows 7. It’s not what you’re after if you want to erase your HDD, but it feels like Beats Audio is included in the bloatware that somehow became popular despite all the other mistakes against PC standards.
I finally got it! I removed the Realtek audio driver, and Windows added its own one. Everything sounds much better now, even without the equalization. Appreciate all the tips!
