Yesterday I followed my usual routine and used my phone as I normally would. However, this evening I returned home with only about 3% battery remaining, whereas I usually retain more than 40%. When I plugged it in using the 25W brick with the full wrap case open, the battery warmed up but stayed within safe limits. I’ve experienced similar situations before without any problems. From what I observed, the highest temperature reached was around 40°C. My previous phone reached 42°C during heavy use due to processor overheating. The device I have is about a year old and originally had 4,200mAh, now it shows 4,000mAh. Is the battery completely dead or is there a short circuit? I also noticed that charging took longer yesterday compared to usual. I’ve been cautious with my battery, even using a fan during charging (without using it) at full power. I’m keeping track of its performance and will see how much it depletes after class. If it drops more than 2%, it might indicate a failing component, though it seems unlikely to render the phone unusable.

It appears your app has crashed and is consuming excessive power while running in the background. Consider restarting it.

However, the phone felt nice to the touch again after 45 minutes, and it maintained its performance without any loss after that time. I plan to restart it after my current lesson. She mentioned this problem too—she noticed similar issues where her battery lasted much shorter between day x and day y on an S8.

Recorded my battery levels from 13:45 to the current time (16:50). Charging is necessary to bring the battery up before heading home. I attached a log file named battery_log.txt on my phone.

Unclear why this problem occurred. For some time there were only a few days when the SoC used excessively and became very hot, even during normal operation, and the next day things returned to normal. It hasn't happened much recently, so I'm uncertain... Now it's been three and a half years, and AccuBattery shows about 87% capacity left. That's quite stable. If the trend continues, I'll have another two years before it drops to 80% and several more years before noticeable degradation sets in. Seems like I was a bit overly anxious or concerned back then about batteries because I understood what could happen if they failed, but I didn't consider how infrequently they actually do fail (very rarely these days). The battery in my ROG Ally endures a lot of stress and still works (though it's degrading at around 13% per year). It undergoes two full discharge cycles from 80 to 5% each day, about 3 to 5 days a week, and under higher TDP conditions it can exceed 50°C.
