I turned the PC off and on again, Lightroom Classic launched correctly after about half a minute, whereas yesterday’s restart didn’t help much—it often worked then but required another attempt.

Perhaps I haven't attempted it yet. I'll consider it later. I haven't felt comfortable updating the UEFI.

Are there any concerns about driver updates affecting your system? Also, are your storage devices at capacity or nearing it?

When this occurs often enough to need several daily reboots, it simplifies testing different factors. Rebooting doesn’t always fully restart your PC; it typically needs a shutdown to prevent just resuming the last Windows session. Changing to the Balanced Power Plan would be the simplest initial adjustment to test. I’d also capture some data during these events, as I’m not sure whether you meant CPU usage or GPU performance issues.

high power plan isn't usually the best choice... I understand Intel can sometimes act oddly, so you might consider using throttle stop instead. Since I don't rely on Intel (it's quite inefficient for me), Windows 10 seems more suitable right now. Just give it a try with throttle stop—it depends on your configuration. Windows' default settings actually prevent a reboot on restart (thanks, Microsoft!).

I'll examine it. I'm unfamiliar with Throttlestop.

OS runs on an SSD dedicated solely to software and the operating system. The C drive remains mostly empty. I believe the storage situation isn’t critical since I have several drives. However, the D drive appears nearly full—possibly around 80%. This might be contributing to the problem, especially since it holds my photos. I plan to transfer files to another drive to test if that resolves the issue. I’ll also review and clean up folders. Updating drivers could help; I’m considering the latest Nvidia driver or others. Previously, drive issues were more consistent. The current problem seems to emerge only after prolonged inactivity—restarting the PC doesn’t always fix it, but a second reboot does. I’ll investigate further regarding the drives. I also wanted to perform a cleanup, successfully removing files I should have deleted long ago and clearing out duplicates. I moved completed projects to external drives and discarded unnecessary items.

You should check if problems appear after updating drivers. Most issues seem linked to the OS drive being nearly full, since certain default folders reside on the OS drive. This behavior is unusual—restarting the PC might be the only solution targeting the Windows or its storage. Use CrystalDiskInfo to assess the drive's health. You can also download the latest Intel chipset drivers for your system. Re-installing Windows is one of the more disruptive fixes, as it clears the entire disk before reinstalling. If you need a full reset, back up all files, including screenshots and AppData, as some games save progress there. A complete Windows reinstall will resolve the problem only if the issue stems from a corrupted OS.

I didn’t remember to use CrystalDiskInfo, and I haven’t installed it on this computer. Just did it now. It looks like it’s 97% good.
