Board: Gigabyte B360M HD3 CPU: i5 9600k, i7 9700k I attempted an upgrade to my i7 9700k but the system failed to boot, only running for 10-20 seconds before restarting, so I swapped back to the 96k to check for a BIOS update that wouldn't cause issues.

Disconnect the small silver battery for five minutes, then reinstall it on the motherboard and attempt again: This should clear any updates made in the BIOS.

You didn’t reset the CMOS. The main explanation seems to be that maybe you altered some connections.
