The PC won't restart but will boot normally, and there are also issues with gaming performance.
Suddenly, my PC refuses to restart. As shown in the video (link below), it powers on and then stops and shuts down by itself. It attempts to restart again but fails, continuing in that manner. I have to manually turn it off on the power supply and then restart it, which works fine.
I’ve also noticed a significant drop in performance while gaming, though I’m not certain if this is linked to the problem. I haven’t made any changes to the hardware recently, and the only software updates were Windows updates, which I’m unsure were applied correctly since the system won’t restart. Any advice would be appreciated.
System specifications are available, including the PSU's make, model, or part number. The age of the PSU is provided as well. Additionally, it is noted whether the PSU was purchased new or used/refurbished.
Intel Core i7 12700K 12-core (3.6GHz-5.0GHz) 25MB Skt1700
Nvidia RTX 2060 6Gb
Cooler CPU Jonsbo HX6250 Preto - 140mm (LGA 1700)
Motherboard MSI MAG B660M MORTAR WIFI DDR4
Corsair Kit 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz Vengeance RGB Pro SL Black CL18
SSD Samsung 870 QVO 1TB SATA III (x2)
Modular Corsair RM 750X (2021) 80+ Gold
Remove the GPU (RTX 2060) from your PC, connect the monitor to MoBo, and check if the system powers on.
Your video display doesn't indicate a reboot problem; instead, it shows a sequence of initial power-on, POST, shutdown, and then power-on again.
This suggests a power supply issue. Replacing the PSU would be necessary, as the Corsair RMx model comes with a 10-year warranty. You should return the faulty PSU for replacement under warranty.
Thank you for the input. Could this be connected to poor gaming performance? FPS have been very inconsistent in several games, and it hasn’t always been this way before. I’ve updated the drivers and Windows, even tried reverting to older versions, but it hasn’t fixed the problem.
It is possible in certain situations. For example, when the PSU sends voltages outside the acceptable range or produces excessive ripple, it can cause instability. A faulty PSU may damage all connected components. Therefore, return the product and replace it with a new one.
I've placed an order for a new PSU and will check if it resolves the issue. I'm unable to use the guarantee since I couldn't locate the invoice and I'm currently in a different country, making it not worth the effort or time. I'll update you once I know if it works. Thanks for your assistance.
It's a good PSU. It's also pretty uncommon to see someone purchasing it (because of its uniqueness).
But have you confirmed it will fit in your PC case?
