Hi, I'm worried about my new PC. It's crashing because of system problems, especially with the high temperatures. I enabled the curve optimizer in BIOS for PBO and set it to -20 for all cores. That should help, right? I played games for a few days without any issues and kept the CPU temperature around 70°C. Then I had a random crash in CSGO—screen went black and there was a buzzing noise before it restarted. The event viewer showed a processor core error with a machine check exception. It mentioned a cache hierarchy issue and a specific APIC ID of 7 instead of 0. It seems like the CPU temperature might have been too low, but I noticed it stayed cool otherwise. Could this be related to the CPU setting being set too low? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

The APIC ID indicates a core failure, specifically core #0 and #4. I experienced similar crashes with CO, so reducing the negative offset for those cores might help prevent further issues.

Consider lowering the settings further, perhaps to -15 or even lower. Since you're aiming for better cooling without affecting performance too much, adjusting the PBO power limit and boosting override can help. Just be cautious and monitor your system.

Varies by chip type; reducing to -15 on the two-core drop is acceptable, otherwise -10 is better

Thanks for the update. It seems the crash occurs mainly in CSGO. I need to be alt-tabbed to the desktop and it happens again with the processor cores. I plan to lower the temperature to -15, but I’m using all-core mode for simplicity and not sure if that’s the right approach.

It works better if you focus on the core level. If it fails, check Event Viewer for crash details—look for the thread number labeled "APIC ID" (0-1 means core #0, etc.). In BIOS, increase the voltage by 5 for this core and repeat. After a few attempts, you should have stable results.

I noticed a slight variation in the APIC IDs during the crashes. Initially, one ID was 0 and another was 7. After the second crash, one ID was 0 with one error and another was 2. It seems the system is tracking multiple errors per core. This could indicate more than two cores involved at once.

Game runs mainly around a central point, though it varies each session, making cores #0, #1 and #3 stand out as some of the quickest. If you're using CPU, push those cores hard on the clock but be careful with voltage—undervolting too low might hurt performance.
