So I had 32GB of Corsair Vengeance LX 3200MHz RAM installed in my PC for the last year. Whenever I tried to use an XMP profile to boost my RAM speed, my games would always crash. I didn’t pay much attention until recently when I stopped using XMP. After some research, it turned out I was using two different sets of RAM: one 16GB CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 and another 16GB CMK16GX4M2Z3200C16. To reach the desired 3200MHz clock speed, I removed the mismatched pair and overclocked the working stick. But when I took out the second set, my PC wouldn’t boot at all, so I tried just the first stick, which worked fine. Is there anything I missed? My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, Nvidia RTX 3080, 12GB of Gigabyte GA-X570, and AORUS ELITE Wi-Fi.

4 RAM sticks at DOCP are straining a 2700X due to the low IMC performance with Zen/Zen+. Combining two distinct RAM sets will likely create problems, and Vengeance chips tend to clash with Ryzen processors.

Which slots have your RAM connected when you attempt to start with a 16GB memory? Some systems work fine, yet others fail if RAM isn't in the correct position, especially when not all slots are filled. With four slots (0, 1, 2, 3), place RAM sticks in slot 0 and 2 for optimal performance.
