The PC starts up but doesn't display any video output.
A week ago my power went out for a few hours while trimming trees near power lines. When it came back on, my PC would start and then shut down after ten seconds. This happened three times before it booted normally again. After restarting, it performed seven or eight cycles and worked like usual—playing games and functioning properly. I turned off the PC one night before bed and the next day it would turn on, then shut down and restart every 10 to 15 seconds. There was a red light on the motherboard (ASUS Prime 560M-A), which I think indicated the CPU status.
I disassembled the case, checked the cables, reset the CMOS battery, and restarted the PC—still no improvement. The issue persisted when I removed and reinserted the GPU. I also used a new power supply and still faced the same problem. My PC specs are: PSU 650w, 80+gold, Asus Prime B560M-A, 32GB RAM (2x16GB DDR4 at 3600), Intel I5 11600K.
I’m now struggling to get video to display despite fixing other components.
When the power returned, was your PC connected to the wall outlet? Perhaps a surge impacted the motherboard or its parts?
Did you take out the dedicated GPU before connecting the motherboards' video output?
If not, give it a try and let me know.
Re-seating components and cables might also assist for various reasons, even if they weren't touched initially. Consider this as the final troubleshooting step.
