I recently upgraded my CPU from 2700X to 5900X on an ASUS Crosshair Vii Hero, before installing the latest BIOS. After buying the 5900X and setting it up, I ran my 2700X for a few days. Once the 5900X was installed, I couldn’t boot the PC using DOCP or XMP on its 3200MHz G-Kill RAM. The system would jump to the BIOS screen and then shut down completely. I had to restart the PSU to get the PC running again. Even though it worked fine during stress tests like Prime86 Cinebench (15 minutes), opening any game caused it to crash.
I thought the CPU might be faulty, so I returned the old one and bought a new one from a retail store. But the problem persisted. I tried downgrading the BIOS, going from 4901 to 7 older versions, then up to 4007. That time the system stabilized and supported XMP/DOCP. I ran all stress tests and played games smoothly.
However, about two weeks ago, playing Call of Duty: Warzone 2 caused the issue again. This happened mostly when using Google Chrome and watching Twitch. Someone suggested disabling C-STATE, which reduced shutdowns but didn’t fix the problem. Recently, while playing Dota 2 with two Twitch tabs open, it crashed once more—unexpected since I never experienced shutdowns before.
I also ran memory tests on all four RAM modules using Memtest86 and found no errors.

I'm using a cooler Master 240mm AIO and tried a dual RAM setup on the latest BIOS. It worked smoothly during installation at the shop after the new CPU was installed, but didn't function properly when I brought the PC home—never again.
unfortunately i don't have another machine or a different power supply to test what i can do. the best option would be to purchase a new power supply if it's causing the problem. this unit has worked well for three years for my 2700x and continues to function properly when I revert it back.
Might be a small issue or just a minor hiccup. Not severe enough to affect the 2700, but noticeable enough for the 5900. Do you have a multimeter? A PSU tester with a digital display accurate to two significant digits would also be helpful.
i don't have a multimeter to check the psu, but i thought about why so many people assume it's broken. could it be related to the bios or power management? With the latest bios, my pc would boot through docp and then shut down, requiring a manual psu restart. also, the tdp is similar for both 2700x and 5900x models, so i believe a 750w psu would be sufficient for my system.
